Preston was sure his ninth birthday was going to be his best ever, especially after coming up with a golf theme. Excited about his new sport, Preston had spent much of July practicing and had even taken some personal lessons. So, when dad designed his invitation with Tiger Woods giving him lessons, he couldn't be happier.

Soon the plan was set. With the help of Clay Mitchell and Paul Garrabo, who had both been working with Preston during the summer, we recruited James Saballos and Tommy Medina to help teach the junior golfers. Paul, golf pro at Swings 'n Things, coordinated the party and the lessons. Junior golfers learned how to drive, chip, and even got to practice putting as they played 18 holes of goofy golf . First they must have gone through 2000 balls on the driving range as the ball machine was empty by the time they finished. Then, after learning to chip, several golfers earned US Golf Kids golf towels for being the best chippers. After goofy golf, each junior golfer received a golf certificate commemorating their first lesson. Following the golf lessons, the party moved to Preston's house for swimming, hot dogs, and cake and ice cream.
