Blizzard Beach

Tuesday brought Preston and Brooklyn's favorite place in the world, Blizzard Beach Water Park. This would be their third visit here but this time, they were even better swimmers and were tall enough to ride every slide. This cool park is based on an Alpine ski resort theme. Despite the hot temperatures outside, looking at the snow covered decorations just makes it seem cooler.
A favorite since their first trip here when they were just three and four, the T-bar drop provides some great fun for both of them. Brooklyn likes to impress observers by hanging on, even after if hit the end and swinging off. This will probably be Preston's last year to enjoy the T-bar drop as he was almost too tall to go on it this year.
Refusing to hold on, Brooklyn becomes airborne more than once on the Family Raft Ride. This high speed ride is one of the most fun rides of the park.
After the Family Raft Ride, the Lazy River is Preston's second favorite ride. Going around the entire park takes about a half an hours. We went several times throughout the day.

Even though they are old enough to enjoy the big slides, Preston and Brooklyn both still like the kid's area. Crossing the moving ice bergs using the net above for balance kept them both busy for quite some time. In the background of this picture you can see the Family Raft Ride elevated above the trees.
Towards the end of the day, we realized the Preston and Brooklyn had been on every ride in the park except one, Summit Plummet. They were tall enough to ride all of the slides and had had a good time going down some of the ones that were new to them. Brooklyn still liked the Black Hole the best. It is a completely enclosed, black tunnel slide you go down on inner tubes. The last time she went down it Greg sent her down backwards, much to the surprise of the attendant at the top of the slide who questioned him as he did it.
Summit Plummet, the tallest water slide in the world, is a straight down drop where you gain speeds of 50 to 70 mph. Preston and Brooklyn were both tall enough to go down, but we weren't sure they were brave enough. At the end of the day, Brooklyn decided she wanted to try it. Preston and I waited at the bottom while Greg and Brooklyn went to the top to wait in line. About ten minutes into the wait, Preston decided he wanted to go ahead a try it. Susan and Preston ran up the hill and surprised Greg as we joined them in line. Not only did they go down once, they went down a second time after that.
