Debarkation came early Sunday morning as we approached a cloud-covered Miami just after 5:00 a.m.

Throughout the night we followed the Carnival Destiny as both ships returned to port in Miami. Susan watched the sunrise as Miami became bigger and bigger. Despite our early arrival, we didn't actually get off the ship until after 10:00 that morning due to various customs clearances, etc. We enjoyed our last meal while on board on the Lido deck and watched all of the passengers dressed in pants, long sleeves, and carrying coats prepared to go back to snow-covered homes. We knew we were lucky to be returning to our weather at home--in the upper 70's.

Once off the boat, we rented a car and drove back to Ft. Lauderdale to spend one last day at the beach. We were able to purchase much cheaper airline tickets returning home Monday, so we were forced to stay on vacation one more day. Preston and Brooklyn found the perfect beach with playground equipment close by.

Though the wind was blowing so hard that sand was flying, the water wasn't cold enough to keep the kids out. The waves were high and provided great entertainment. Protected by masks, both Preston and Brooklyn spent hours letting the waves roll over them.

Finally cold from the water, Brooklyn finds warmth in the sand with the help of Dad. Mom spent the day relaxing on the beach while Dad took turns taking the kids out deeper in the ocean.

Finally tuckered out, Greg and Brooklyn rest in sand-made chairs while Preston warms up after Susan buried him in the sand. Notice in the background the strength of the wind as it blows the palm trees. We were definitely wind-blown after a day at this beach.

After a great, but long trip, we returned home Monday afternoon where we were greeted with a nice surprise, welcome home gift from Linda and Tiffani of Allure Travel. Though we had a wonderful time, it was nice to be home!
