Saturday, March 16, 2002: Arrival in Port Canaveral and on to Orlando

It was a great trip, but we eventually circled back around and ended back where we started. The entire trip was equivalent to crossing the United States east to west in a single week.

Eventually, seven days can go by fast. That's exactly what happened. We woke up Saturday morning, looked out the window, and it was amazing how much it looked like it did seven days earlier.

We made our way through breakfast and downstairs where we waited our turn to get off. Greg came up with the idea that we could just walk off the ship without them calling out our luggage color. Sure enough, it worked. This saved us about an hour.

When you go down stairs and look at all the luggage placed on the floor of the warehouse, it's overwhelming. However, everyone always seems to find their luggage.

We tipped the porter to take our luggage to the shuttle and left the port to head for Orlando. We all had a great time on the ship and hope to be back soon. I don't think even Greg was too disappointed to leave since he had such a great time. Carnival was fantastic again and exceeded our expectation. Probably the only incident we had was for two towels being charged to our room. Our cabin steward wasn't willing to fix the problem, so we worked it out at the purser's office.

It was sad to see shuttle buses going the other direction to the ship as we left. However, we knew we weren't done yet. We couldn't get a Southwest flight out for two days. Oh darn! What could we do with two days.

Back at our Time Share

King of the mountain is a lot of fun in the water.

This trampoline was a blast. At home, if you fall off, you hit concrete. Here, you hit water.

It was great to actually get to stay in our own time share.
Although we had planned on spending two nights at our time share at West Gate Lakes in Orlando, we were very pleased when they were actually able to let us stay in our own unit.

Of course, seven day of beaches and swimming on the ship were still not enough for the kids. They couldn't wait to go swimming in the lake's water playground just outside our unit. They had a great time climbing then sliding down the "blob", jumping, and teeter-tottering the afternoon away.

After spending some time out on the lake, we headed out to see what had changed in Orlando. It's amazing... Things change overnight in this town.

We stopped off at FAO Schwartz because Brooklyn could hardly wait to go back to Barbie Avenue. While there, she loves the huge Raggedy Anne Doll in front of the store and is even more excited to see the Barbie shoe next to Raggedy Anne.

Then it was on to Greg's Favorite, Johnny Rockets, where the kids get a kick out of playing jute box songs and drinking great chocolate shakes.
