Fun Days Friday and Saturday were full of sun and swimming fun, despite our sunburn from the sailing trip on Thursday.

The pools were considerably busier on the trip home as clouds and cooler weather had given way to sun-filled days. The people didn't discourage Preston and Brooklyn, however as swimming was one of their favorite activities. After days of swimming, we knew it was going to be tough to return home and tell them they had to wait two more months to swim at home.

While Preston made tracks going down the slide time after time, Brooklyn had fun swimming, going under, and trying to touch the bottom of the pool. She also liked "pool hopping" as we would move from one pool to another just for fun.

While Greg enjoyed the film on the ship's engines and the bridge, Susan and the kids went on the Galley tour. One of the stations set up for the tour included demonstrations of napkin folding and towel animals. Preston gets right into the act helping the steward make a towel puppy dog.

The second formal night came on Friday where we again dressed in our best and headed for the dining room. Each night we ate in the dining room, Brooklyn ordered a grape jelly sandwich, which came with chips and cookies, and ate baskets of rolls.

While Greg and Susan sampled the rich variety of foods the dining room offered, Preston stuck to his favorite each night--chicken nuggets with French fries. He too looked forward to the rolls as we kept the waiter busy keeping the basket filled.

Our waiter brings baked Alaska for desert. Though we weren't there much, the waiters and bus boys flirted with Brooklyn each time we ate in the dining room. He said Brooklyn reminded him of his three-year-old daughter back home.

Even the nights we didn't eat in the dining room, we still attended most of the evening shows. The kids loved the entertainment and sat quietly through all of them.

After the show, we returned to our cabin to change clothes and plot a way to keep Greg awake for the Grand Gala Midnight Buffet. We were greeted by a towel monkey hanging from our ceiling.

Our monkey joined our other towel creatures from previous nights which included a crab, a puppy dog, a snake, and a swan (who had somehow become disassembled and was just a towel again). Between our collection of towel animals and Brooklyn's chocolate pillow mint collection, we were surely set for life.

Since our goal was to keep Greg awake for the Midnight Buffet, we decided a walk around the ship was the best approach. By eleven, we weren't sure if Brooklyn would make it or not. Just before we went in to see the buffet, she was so sleepy that she stumbled and fell, head-first, against a metal pole while walking and got a big goose egg on her head.

The Midnight Buffet was as spectacular as we had remembered it, and the kids were amazed that everything was made from food. Preston was challenged to figure out from what type of food each of the unusual figures was made, and Brooklyn thought it was neat to see some of the items she had seen them preparing earlier during the galley tour.

Like everything else, the desserts at the end of the buffet were meticulously created. Though the buffet opened for eating 45 minutes later, none of us were hungry enough to stay wake to enjoy the scrumptious feast.
